Fey: Paris Hilton is a "piece of shit"

Buzz is going around regarding former Saturday Night Live head writer Tina Fey's appearance on the  Howard Stern show earlier this week.  Apparently Fey considers Paris Hilton to be one of the show's worst hosts.

Fey, who now stars on NBC's 30 Rock, told Stern that SNL's guest hosts are usually great, but every couple of years, there's a bad one like Hilton, whom she dubbed a "piece of shit," reports Defamer.

Fey said that Hilton "embraces her stupidity" and requested a skit be written in which she could pose as Jessica Simpson, explaining "I hate her" and "she's fat."

Fey also revealed that the hotel heiress was so wrapped up in herself that the SNL staff had a bet to see if they could get her to ask anyone about themselves, like "how are you?" The closest they came was when Hilton asked if Maya Rudolph was Italian.

I know Fey had nothing to do with the decision to book Paris Hilton on the show in the first place, but... Paris Hilton should have never been booked on the show in the first place.  SNL has this habit of booking hosts who just aren't worthy enough to step out onto that historic stage, and the show's lineage was definitely tarnished a bit by having pop culture punchline Paris Hilton out there.

Nudist Resort Invites Will Ferrell to 5K ‘Streak’

Paradise Lakes, America's premier nudist resort, has extended an invite to actor Will Ferrell to reprise his movie role of "Frank the Tank" from "Old School" and participate in Saturday's "Sneaker Streaker 5K' clothing-optional race around the 72-acre property on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 8 a.m.

Ferrell’s role as Frank “The Tank” Ricard in the 2003 film Old School included a memorable scene in which Ricard ran nude across a college campus shouting, “We’re streaking!” In real life, Ferrell completed the Boston Marathon that same year. Paradise Lakes extended an invitation to Ferrell via his representatives earlier this month and is awaiting a reply.

“We can’t think of anyone more appropriate to lead our 5K streak,” says Sabrina Vizzari, race director for the Sneaker Streaker 5K, which is expected to draw about 150 runners to the nudist resort, located just north of Tampa. “Unlike in “Old School,” he’ll have plenty of people running behind him.”

He's Seen SNL 527 Times!

Ironic Sans has an interview online with Louis Klein, a *really* dedicated Saturday Night Live audience member who was waiting in line for this 528th show.

The interviewer met Klein 15 years earlier while waiting in line for SNL tickets, and decided recently to go back and see if Klein was still as dedicated as ever.

From the interview:

I seem to remember that 15 years ago you told me Tim Kazurinsky mentioned your name during a Weekend Update segment.
No, no. Not Weekend Update. It was in a sketch that he did. The Guru sketch. His name was Havnagootiim Vishnuuerheer [pronounced “havin’-a-good-time wish-you-were-here”]. What he was doing was he was answering Unanswered Questions of the universe. So he invited everybody in the country to write in unanswered questions that they had, and he picked one of mine, and all of a sudden I’m at dress rehearsal and he says, “Louis Klein from Ridgewood New York wants to know, does God wear Pajamas when he sleeps?”

And what was the answer?
The Guru says, “No he doesn’t. All he wears is a t-shirt. and on the t-shirt it says I created the universe and all I got out of it was this lousy t-shirt.” That was a Flip Wilson show in December ‘83.

Did they mention your name on any other episodes?
Yes, they did. And Jamie too. This was in April of 2004. Will Ferrell was the host. And he was doing the Pepper Sketch, where Will was putting pepper on Will Forte’s salad. And the character’s name was Dr. Louis something, and his wife Jamie. In honor of my 500th show.

NBC To Announce New Schedule This Week

According to an article in the New York Times, NBC will be announcing a new schedule sometime this week that will more than likely include a new time slot for Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.

Studio 60 was recently picked up for a full season, and Kevin Reilly, the president of NBC Entertainment noted that while they've committed to the show for the rest of the season, it would "not necessarily stay on Monday."

Jim Breuer Takes His Show on the Road

Former Saturday Night Live cast member Jim Breuer is taking his stand-up act on the road. 

In addition to college appearances at New York's Adelphi University on November 17th and at Rutgers University in New Jersey on November 30th, he'll also be a part of the South Beach Comedy Festival along with Jon Stewart, Hal Sparks, Roseanne, Margaret Cho, Bill Maher and others.  Check out the South Beach Comedy Festival website for more details.

Breuer has gained immense popularity as a result of his show “Jim Breuer Unleashed” on Sirius Satellite Radio. The show is the 2nd most popular on the network next to Howard Stern, and this month marks Breuer’s 2nd anniversary with Sirius.

The “Comedy Street” tour which is part of the “Heavy Metal Comedy” tour will also feature Breuer who will be backed by a full band. He will be performing some of his most popular comedic sketches such as “Metallica’s ‘If You’re Happy and You Know It,’” and “AC/DC’s 'Hokey Pokey.'” The location of this tour will be announced soon.

Breuer has another new gig as well. He will be the new host of the VH1 show “Web Junk 20,” replacing Patrice O’Neal. The premiere episode of the show with Breuer at the helm debuts on Nov. 16 at 12 a.m.

Robert Smigel at the Museum of Television and Radio

On November 9th, the work of Saturday Night Live writer and occasional cast member Robert Smigel was honored at the Museum of Television and Radio in New York.

Smigel's work on SNL, along with Late Night with Conan O'Brien, TV Funhouse and The Dana Carvey Show was showcased to a enthusiastic crowd.

The discussion was packed with fascinating information, according to reports.  For example, Smigel stated in no uncertain terms that when Conan O'Brien moves to LA to replace Jay Leno in 2008, he will absolutely not be going along with him.  He's determined to stay in New York.

Dan Aykroyd Owns the World

Dan Aykroyd, one of the very original "Not Ready for Prime Time Players" on Saturday Night Live, recently visited a Canadian school after the elementary school kids had watched Ghostbusters.  He took the opportunity to encourage the students to write.

"My time is past. I'm old, I've done my thing," he told them. "But how do you think movies like that get written? Because I had an idea in my head as a young man. I put it out there ... It became a reality.

"What you dream is what you can become. You have that power."

"The reason I'm here today, the reason I own a brand new Harley-Davidson motorcycle and the reason I have a big log cabin and I got cars and all kinds of stuff is because I'm a writer and writers own everything," he said.

"So you learn how to write. You keep writing and you can write articles, movies, TV screenplays, books, essays."

People.com let its readers come up with questions for Will Ferrell recently.  Here's a sampling:

You played music a lot on SNL. Do you secretly wish you were a rock star?
I don't have that thing where rock stars want to be comedians and comedians want to be rock stars. If anything, I would love to be a really lame pop star in a foreign country. What David Hasselhoff is to Germany, I would love to be to, like, Poland. I would love to flood Eastern Europe with insipid pop songs.

What kind of things make you laugh?
Inappropriate behavior makes me laugh. Yelling at people for no reason in a public place. Yet I don't think that I am such a fan of the Jackass-brand of inappropriate behavior. I prefer clever inappropriate behavior, where you don't necessarily wound yourself.

Why do you like to run around in your underwear in your movies?
I am not an exhibitionist by any means, but it really seems to bug people. So for that reason alone I am going to keep doing it.

The Sketch They'll Be Talking About on Monday?

Clearly the runaway favorite moment from Saturday's Alec Baldwin episode of Saturday Night Live was the "Awkward Carpool" sketch.  And since NBC.com likes to showcase SNL videos on their site I cruised on over to watch it again. 

The highlights from last night's show available online do not include this sketch.  And don't even bother checking their new Dotcomedy.com site either.  They barely have any SNL stuff.

Is NBC afraid of a Bobby McFerrin lawsuit or are they really that out of touch with what the homerun sketch of the night was?  People are already making up T-shirts with the phrase "Bobby McFerrin raped my grandmother" on them.  As twisted as the line is, it is the most quotable thing SNL has produced since the Cowbell sketch. 

Embrace it NBC.  People want it.  Give the people who so desperately want to support you what they want.  After all the hoopla about the cameos dies down, that's the sketch people will remember.  It's what they'll be talking about on Monday.  And the people who missed it have no options.
